Henry Rostron Davenport, Jr.

Henry R. Davenport, Jr., born in January of 1945, passed away on December 15, 2025. He lived a life defined of devotion, strength, humor, and an unwavering willingness to help anyone in need,

In the fall of 1963, he met the love of his life, Sandra. Together they built a wonderful life rooted in love, commitment, and family. Though Sandra passed before him, their bond remained unbroken, and their life together was one of his greatest joys.

He was a devoted and loving father to four children: Robin Kolbeck (Robert Kolbeck), Lance Davenport (Rebecca Davenport), Chip Davenport (Ellen Marshall), and Ryan Davenport (Cheryl Davenport). His children were his pride, and he never missed an opportunity to support, protect, and encourage them. He was the brother of Barbara Bonville (Paul Bonville), and predeceased by his parents Henry R Davenport and Ethel (Fawcett) Davenport.

He was the proud Papa to Sara Sand, Laura Scott, Nathan Davenport, and Remington Davenport, and a cherished Great Papa. HIs family was his heart, and he took immense joy in watching them grow.

Known for his brave spirit and strong will, he balanced those traits with a great sense of humor. He loved to joke around and could always be counted on to bring laughter to a room. As a lifelong Red Sox fan, he rarely missed a chance to cheer them on. He also had a deep love for his German Shepherd dogs and took great pride in caring for them.

He will be remembered for his kindness, resilience, loyalty, and the love he so freely gave. His legacy lives on in the family that he adored and the countless lives that he touched.

There will be a memorial to celebrate Henry on January 7, 2025, at South Coast Chapel Mortuary from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. 158 Middleboro Road (Rt. 18) in East Freetown.
